Canada Trip Part 7 - The Discovery Center (or is that Centre?)

One of the things that the kids really wanted to do was to go to the Discovery Center (Centre).  We told them that if we had time and if they behaved that we would see if we could fit it in.  So on our last full day in Canada, Grandma, Lucas, Caden, and Noah got to go.  Grandpa, Liz, and Halle dropped us off and headed back to the apartment.  Halle had had a complete meltdown earlier in the day at the pizza buffet and at Costco and so she was not able to come with us.  We all felt bad that she couldn't come.  Caden was especially sad.  He begged us to let Halle come.  Even once it was clear that she would not be coming, Caden kept saying to Dad, "I wish Halle could have come, she would love this."  It was cute to see, because even though Caden pretends that he doesn't really like her, I know deep down he does.  They sure fight a lot, but when thick comes to thin they are really good buddies and have a lot of fun together.

Remarkably, Halle was in pretty good spirits afterward.  Even though it was really sad to not have her with us, I think we all realized it was for the best.

As the picture below shows, the kids were especially excited because they were doing a special Sesame Street exhibit on the body.

Caden really liked the exhibit on the digestive system.  Very informative, but disgusting!

 Noah and Oscar the Grouch

Caden and Noah on Sesame Street

Noah was excited at the washing your hands station.

The kids really enjoyed grocery shopping too.

Noah liked weighing the produce (and everything else) on the scale.

Caden named this sandwich the "Boogey".  Not quite sure why, but it is monstrous!

 "Look at me!"

The bubble room was a lot of fun.  Noah is at the age where he is obsessed with bubbles big and small.

Oh, no...what happened to the rest of Caden's body!

Noah gettin' some reps on the stationary bike.  No "MOselfies" though.

Everyone had a lot fun building their own roller coasters.  It was cool to see their creations and to watch the ball coast along the track.

What was interesting is of all the activities I think both Caden and Noah liked the racing station the best.  At this station, you could line up like a track star and race against a light representing a race horse or a couple of different athletes including Olympic Champion Usain Bolt.

Nice form Caden!

Noah was hilarious.  He treated the races like the Olympics and was very dialed in every time.  Every time as he crossed the finish line he exclaimed for everyone to hear "I did it! I won!"  What a cute kiddo.

Thanks Grandma for taking us!

Canada Trip Part 6

While we were visiting Grandma and Grandpa we were able to go to church with them. Our kids even went to class by themselves. I was amazed!

The Halifax Temple is right next to their church. It is gorgeous!

After church Liz decided to sample her Raspberry Cordial from Green Gables. Caden was scared he would get drunk.  It was delicious!

Canada Trip Part 5

Our kids love the beach so we decided to visit Lawrencetown Beach.

It was very rocky and cold and windy. Abby and I are wimps and we don't like the cold and the wind.

Clyde and Norma

Noah loves his bubbles!

Caden and Halle are expert sandcastle builders.

We decided to try and find a beach that was warmer. We found Rainbow Haven beach and it was much more pleasant. Warmer and no wind.

It was actually warm enough to swim and the kids jumped right in.

Caden enjoyed throwing the "boat" and watching it float back.

Noah likes things done his way. He wanted all the sand castles lined up in one long line. He's so demanding.

Halle is a poser.

Abby and Grandpa decided to take a nap.

The beach really wore Noah out.

Canada Trip Part 4

On our way back from Prince Eward Island we stopped at the Bay of Fundy. It is home to the highest tides in the world. This a picture at low tide.

You can walk down these stairs and walk around the bay.

We tried to take a family picture, but Noah wasn't very happy.

The kids liked to make creations out of rocks.

We went to Masstown Market so Lucas could get some fish and chips.

Canada Trip Part 3

We got to visit Prince Edward Island while we were in Canada. I love Anne of Green Gables so I was VERY excited!

We took a ferry over to the island.

You can see it in the background.

Killing time...

There was a very cute lighthouse waiting for us when we got off the ferry.

Norma and Clyde bought tickets for us to see Anne of Green Gables The Musical. Of course Halle had to buy the hat with the braids. I secretly wanted to buy it too.

For some reason Caden was obsessed with the Cows Creamery store.

Here's Green Gables! It's not actually the house they used in the movie. This is the house that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery to write the book. It was still awesome.

Lucas and Halle took a ride in Matthew's buggie.

Anne's room

Anne is telling Halle that the Haunted Woods really aren't haunted.

We took a stroll down Lover's Lane.

I was most excited about running in the fields and pretending I was Anne.

Taking a break for lunch.

We stopped at the Avonlea Train Station. It was a tourist trap so we didn't pay to go in. I still had to take pictures outside.

This is where Lucy Maud Montgomery's "house" is.  Really it's just some foundation where her house used to be.

Playing at Cavendish Beach

This beach is gorgeous. I had to get the red cliffs in the background.

The Lake of Shining Waters

We had dinner at a cool little restaurant. It would've been better if they hadn't taken so long to bring us our food.

I loved Prince Edward Island!!
